Louis Gossett, Jr. and Jenna Elfman will host the CSUN 2011 Senior Film Showcase on Wednesday, May 4th from 7:30pm-9:30pm in the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences located at 5220 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601. The showcase is free and open to the public. Parking is additional.
Golden Globe winning actress Ms. Elfman is known for her role as Dharma on the hit ABC series "Dharma & Greg" from 1997 to 2002. She also starred in such feature films as "Keeping the Faith" with Ben Stiller and Edward Norton and "Edtv" with Matthew McConaughey. She is a former student at CSUN. Considered a film legend by many,
Academy Award winning actor Mr. Gossett has played numerous lead roles in television and film over the past 45 years. He won an Emmy Award for the role of Fiddler in the groundbreaking television miniseries "Roots" and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in "An Officer and a Gentlemen" starring Richard Gere. Gossett was the first Black male to win an Oscar in a supporting role, the second Black male to win for acting, and the third Black to win overall.
Both Elfman and Gossett will be the recipients of CSUN's Cinematheque Award that evening and a short retrospective on both will be shown.
A reception with live music from The Tim Russ Band will follow the showcase in the Academy lobby and patio areas. The evening is sponsored by the CSUN Associated Students Instructionally Related Activities Fund and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, known worldwide for The Golden Globe Awards.

"Giddyup Grandma!" Director: Travis Marlatt 35mm (15 minutes)
"Carousel" Director: Nicole Owen 35mm (13 minutes)
(All senior film project directors have the distinction of being Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellows).
